Having a child is a life changing experience for parents, and often encourages us to think about the miracle of creation and the Creator. To mark this occasion, many parents want to have their children christened into the Christian Church.  

Eligibility

We are very happy to christen children who are living in the parish or who have a strong family connection to St James.
 
Our normal practice is to offer this on the last Sunday of the month at a 12.30pm service, where we will normally accommodate up to two families.  We then invite you to come to the All-Age worship the following Sunday where, as part of the service, we welcome children who have been christened into the wider church family.

We ask parents of children to be christened to do some preparation with us beforehand. We meet with people informally and to have discussions about the Christian faith, the christening service, what bringing up a child in the Christian faith is all about.
